Food trucks have been around since the 1800s as a means of providing kitchenware, food, and even medical supplies, on the go. Previously, they were main sources of food for construction sites, factories, and a variety of other blue-collar locations. Over the years, they have transcended their original food supply and many modern vessels provide gourmet food options. Some trucks have permanent locations, while others roam to serve their delectable dishes at multiple locations. In Huntington Beach, these are just a few of the food trucks you need to check out (if you haven’t already).
Serving 100% organic wagyu beef burgers, these might just be one of the best burgers you can devour. Made from all natural ingredients, Beach Bum Burgers most popular dish is The Bison Burger, containing a scrumptious fig spread, caramelized applewood smoked bacon, goat cheese, all on a brioche bun. Not a fan of burgers? You can also grab a Bum Dog or one of their tasty sides.
Mandi’s is not your average ice cream truck. Not only are there a variety of ice creams to choose from (more than most ice cream trucks in the area), they cater for corporate and private events, parties, AND school events. For events, they can serve anywhere from 200 to 800 guests.
If you loved shaved ice, this is the food truck for you. Since 2014, Haole Boys have been serving up shaved ice Hawaiian-style. Made fresh daily with pure cane sugar and without any dairy, nuts OR gluten, they serve over 20 flavors and even have a menu featuring customer favorite combos!
If you love cheesesteaks but aren’t able to fly to Philly as often as you’d like, Kaya’s Kitchen serves up the next best thing. Providing their take on Huntington Beach’s favorite dishes, Danny Kelly and Jeff Newton has comfort foods galore. From cheesesteaks to sliders, dogs, and quesadillas, you’re sure to find something on the menu for you.
If you have a hard time picking just one food truck to visit, attend Food Truck Thursday, an event that occurs every Thursday from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm (and yes, it is all year round!). There are a variety of trucks available with a myriad of food options. Dogzilla is a great choice for hot dog-lovers, Kogi is the go-to for tacos, and The Burnt Truck is perfect if you’re hungry for sliders. Some of the trucks are there every Thursday while others rotate, so be sure to visit frequently!
